Yankee Pitchers
I see the Yankees are trying corner the market on big name starters. Assuming they end up with Burnett as well (on a three or four year deal), wouldn't this leave them with a surplus of young pitchers that may no longer fit into their plans? Perhaps they would send some our way for additional seasoning. If they are any good, the Yankees will get them back anyway. Is there any potential there for a deal?

Re: Yankee Pitchers
It makes me sick.
They already signed CC. Looks like they are close to signing AJ Burnett for 80 million. They have made an offer to Derek Lowe as well. I was thinking they may make a move for Peavy. With the Cubs out of the picture, it might make sense. They could dangle Hughes, Kennedy, and Cano. Assuming they made that trade for Peavy but did not get Lowe, their rotation could be:
CC, Burnett, Peavy, Joba, Wang
Plus they may still attempt to sign Tex. Must be nice to have that kind of payroll.
Perhaps the Pirates and Yankees could deal, there were rumors in October they might be interested in McLouth. If they signed Lowe instead of trading for Peavy and did not sign Tex, they may move some of their young starters for McLouth and Adam LaRoche.

Even thought I think we can all agree that trading Adam makes a lot of sense, I don't see it happening. Doesn't look like Mientkiewicz is going to be asked back, and there is no one else the Pirates feel comfortable with manning 1st base. If they felt comfortable with Steve Pearce, I think think they would be giving him right field and not looking for a powe-hitting free agent that will never sign in Pittsburgh.
I think our hope needs to go to Furcal signing with someone besides the Dodgers. It is time to say goodbye to Jack Wilson, take Hu and another prospect, and move on.

Re: Yankee Pitchers
The reality is you are correct it is wishful thinking that LaRoche gets traded. In fact they are more likely to sign him to an extension than trade him. If the team is truly trying to regroup, they should be thinking about playing guys like Pearce to see what they have. With or without LaRoche playing this team will be losing. Might as well see what Pearce can do at 1st. He can't be any worse than LaRoche was in April and May the past two years right?

Re: Yankee Pitchers
The Yankees are not going to be trading for LaRoche when they already traded for Nick Swisher. I think they intend to use him at first and trade for Cameron in the outfield. I know the Yankees could be using Swisher out there as well, but with at least Melky, Johnny Damon, Austin Jackson waiting in the wings, Hideki Matsui, and Brett Gardner probably making the team I don't see a need for Swisher to man an outfield position.
