Re: Report: Pirates' Wilson traded to Detroit Tigers
I'm not going to get too excited until the Pirates confirm it is a done deal.
But...for what the Pirates are asking from the Dodgers (Hu, Delwyn Young), and what the Tigers offered two years ago (Jurrjens, G. Hernandez) I'm very optimistic the return for Jack is going to be nice. With the demand for shortstops this winter, we could be acquiring the finishing pieces for the Coonelly/Huntington that is to compete as soon as 2010. (McLouth, Doumit, Andy LaRoche, Walker, Alvarez, McCutchen, Tabata and the pitching depth we have acquired and will comtinue to acquire).

Frank Coonelly, the Pirates' president, today rejected a report that his team had traded shortstop Jack Wilson to Detroit, but the sides are in discussions after the Tigers approached with a fresh offer last night. The Los Angeles Dodgers remain in the mix, too.
