Is anyone else hoping we resign this guy as much as I am? Love the passion he plays with....? thoughts

Me! I want him and would pay more for him...

Not only would I like to see him return, but I'd try my hardest to trade Adam LaRoche and give 1st base to Mientkiewicz for the next two years.

LaRoche has no future with us. By the time we are ready to compete, he will have priced himself out of our plans or be too old to play a good 1st base. Trade him now, get the best return you can, have Doug play 1st and be a leader for the next 1.5 years, trade him July 2010 for whatever, and by then Pedro/Neil Walker/Steve Pearce/Ryan Doumit will be able to take over 1st base.

I agree, trade older LaRoche. We should all hope that neither the angels nor yankees get Texieria, that way both will be in need of first basemen, and hopefully will take a look at ours. I don't care if we lost 110 games this year, as long as we have talent coming up, I still think we have to find a future ace somewhere somehow though.

I would love nothing more than a Mientkiewicz/Pearce combo at 1B and eventually giving way to Pedro Alvarez. Would not be surprised to see some dealing going on this week at the meetings. I still do not consider LaRoche the first baseman of the future and I hope I am not the only one...
