Delmon Young

Would you guys try to pull a deal with the Twins to acquire Young? I'm curious, because I'm torn on the idea.

He's 22, has power-potential, a good arm in right field, and would give the Pirates an outstanding future outfield with McCutchen and Tabata.

He is available. It might have to be a 2-2 swap, but start with Ian Snell and see what else would need to be done.

But I wonder, only a year after the Twins acquired him, why is he supposedly available? Club-house cancer? Isn't as good as advertised?

Would you like to see the Pirates get him as our righthanded bat, allowing us to eventually trade McLouth, or would you rather see someone like Steve Pearce or Andy LaRoche end up in right and not make any trades?

As I recall Young has an attitude. And he Ks alot (that's from memory - no stats to back it up).

While I do think he's got some potential - I do worry about his attitude. I don't think I'd want him on the Pirates.

mlbtraderumors.com suggests the Twins are looking for left side infield help. No suggestion they would trade Young, however. Wilson for Young?

I doubt the Twins would make that deal, nor do I think we should. We seem to have a lot of outfielders who are ready or will be ready by July. If we get young talent, I would prefer to see someone at the shortstop, catcher, or pitcher positions. By late January there will be a number of outfielders available for a year on the free agent market, so I'm not as concerned about that area.
